Have a better day with comfortable shoes

Today, footwear has come to a point where many people go around wearing shoes that are so uncomfortable, it could be considered self-abuse. Footwear has an impact on our body, and if neglected it will eventually have an impact on our well being and even work efficiency.

It is very important to wear comfortable shoes, especially at work, because that's where the majority of our waking hours are spent. Sometimes that's not possible, as in the case of construction sites and manufacturing facilities, but even people in those work environments can still improve the comfort factor just by switching the brand of work boots you're wearing.

Let's take a look at what can go wrong if we don’t choose comfortable footwear:

1. Painful blisters: New footwear often causes blisters, but blisters all over and pain that does not go away even after a few days is a sign of ill-fitting shoes.
2. Cramped toes: If our shoes are crushing our toes together, then we had better replace them in a hurry. It could result in the nerves of the toes to thicken abnormally, a condition called Morton’s Neuroma which requires surgery to correct.
3. Corns: These could be a result of uncomfortable shoes worn over long periods, though they can be sorted out with minor treatment.
4. Posture problems: If our shoes are uncomfortable, we try to lessen the pain by adjusting our walking style, and this causes our natural posture to change over time causing needless pressure on parts of the legs and back. Other seemingly unrelated pains and aches are the result.

We can avoid all the above difficulties by taking a little more care while selecting our footwear. It is not true that comfort and style don’t go together. A wide selection of shoes are available today, and paying a little more attention while choosing footwear will help us get that right pair without sacrificing either looks or comfort.

Depending on what the job involves, different occupations may need slightly different types of shoes. Here are some examples of people who benefit most from wearing a comfortable pair of shoes at work:

Airline employees, health care workers, those in food service and the hospitality business which require long periods of moving around need strong and stable footwear coupled with extra cushioning for comfort.

Those who are in jobs which involve long periods of standing, such as teachers, those with manufacturing jobs, and those behind sales counters, should pay more attention to comfort.

Now let us take a look at specific types and aspects of footwear:

Comfortable sandals

Sandals are probably the oldest types of footwear in the world. Depending on the purpose, we can choose from a wide variety of sandals. The kind of support the sandals offer to the arch of our foot is important because this part has an important role to play in both posture and walking comfort. There are some which come with support built in, and others will adjust to our feet after a short time of use. We should select a pair with soles that are slightly bigger than our feet. No part of our feet should be outside the sandal. Good sandals have thick soles and adjustable straps.

Comfortable dress shoes for men

Fortunately, most men are more particular about comfort than looks. Make sure the size is right. Get your foot measured by a local professional. The size of our foot and toes change as the years go by, so it is necessary to measure them every few years or when your existing pair start to get uncomfortable. Sometimes the size of each foot is slightly different, in which case you must pick the larger size. The width of the shoe should be able to comfortably accommodate the widest part of the foot, and the toes should not feel tight, bent or be pressed against the top of the shoe. The arch should be well supported and thicker heals are better. Good padding on the inside is also essential.

Comfortable heels

Heels are fine if we want to add a few inches to our height and ladies are especially fascinated by this. But choose the wrong one, and you will end up with sore feet, a twisted ankle or just be in miserable pain at the end of the day. It is better to choose heels that are not more than 3 inches high. It is better to select shoes which are wide enough for our feet and have a thick heel. You must take them for a short walk in the store to make sure you are comfortable wearing them before finalizing the choice.

Comfortable walking shoes

Other than personal preference, the foot type and walking surface play a role in selecting the most comfortable walking shoes. When buying them, you must try them on with the socks that you intend to wear because their thickness can affect the fit. It is better to buy them from an athletic store where there are trained shoe fitters available. The heel should not slip as you walk, and it should fit nicely without being tight. Walking shoes should feel comfortable right in the store - don't not buy the argument that they will get comfortable as time passes. If they are uncomfortable in the store, just pass.

When it comes to footwear the, saying ‘Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches’ can be taken literally. So go get that comfortable pair of shoes before you start to feel the pinch.
